Global Ultrasound Institute partners with key stakeholders to lead the largest ever point-of-care ultrasound training to mid-level providers across Kenya and South Africa, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The project began with a week-long training program for midwives, clinical officers and physicians from 8 counties in Kenya, with 514 providers completing training by the end of 2022. These providers are now offering POCUS scanning for pregnant mothers at 224 public health facilities across Kenya.

Phase 2 of the project will distribute an additional five hundred Butterfly iQ+ devices in South Africa and is set to launch in the first half of 2023.
